The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has launched Nursing Through Time, a new resource for history teachers at Key Stage 3 and 4.
Nursing Through Time charts the development of modern nursing from the 19th century to the present day, using powerful images from the RCN Archives. It explores topics such as the image of nursing and developments in nursing education, and includes resources on Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.
Nursing Through Time is particularly relevant to those teaching GCSE Medicine Through Time or the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, and those teaching younger pupils.
To accompany the resource, the RCN has produced teacher notes and activities. RCN-trained facilitators are also available to visit your class to deliver the session.
Nursing Through Time has been funded by the RCN Foundation.
